energy of earth
I LIVE IN A WONDERFUL VILLAGE COMMUNITY of Three Rivers located in the Sierra Nevada foothills of Central California where I find solitude in MOTHER EARTH and enjoy the beauty of life, living in the "slow lane" surrounded by the plants and animals of the environment.
As a MASTER GARDENER of the Tulare-Kings County California Cooperative Extension, my interests include farmers' markets, square foot and container gardening of vegetables and citrus, plant propagation, gardening for individuals with limited mobility as well as gardening for health, relaxation and mental clarity. I am also involved in incorpating various aspects of labyrinths, mandalas, medicine wheels, and feng shui in the development and design of meditation gardens.
Note that I especially love FARMERS' MARKETS because they encourage even the non-backyard gardener to engage in more healthly eating habits. Truly fresh, delicious, organic/or pesticide free produce is always a life-style plus.
Being a former BOTANIST and MICROBIOLOGIST at the College of the Sequoias as well as a former member of the California Native Plant
Society, I am also interested in native plants and their uses, including drought tolerant landscapes. And I enjoy learning about those strange sounding Latin plant names!
And besides all the plants that surround me, there are a multitude of mammals, birds, worms, insects and other members of the animal kingdom that are my friends (even the woodpeckers eating my house) and friends of MOTHER EARTH.
PLANTS FOR A LIFETIME
I am currently researching small hand tools for use by individuals with reduced or limited hand mobility. Plus I am venturing research into gardening as a means of promoting health and well being and enlivening the soul by making and using meditation gardens.
As a member of the Tulare-Kings County Master Gardeners Speakers Bureau, I am available for talks on Meditation Gardens, The Magic Of Gardening, and Gardening For Your Health And Wellbeing.
